In collaboration with DMM Games, Arc has announced on April 14th that the popular anime and light novel series Shakugan no Shana will have a browser and Android game entitled “Shakugan no Shana~ Fuuzetsu Battle R”. It is slated to be released in May 2017.
Fuuzetsu Battle R is a strategic multi-player battle game. Its storyline will be linked to the world of Shakugan no Shana, although knowledge of the original series is not necessary since this is a game that can be enjoyed by people who are new to the franchise.The game is based on a light novel written by Yashichiro Takahashi, which has also been adapted into three TV anime series and a movie, as well as several manga. The series details the story of Sakai Yuuji, an ordinary high school student who becomes involved with the battle between the Flame Hazes and the Denizens of the Crimson Realm upon meeting a mysterious girl with flaming red eyes and hair wielding a katana.
The girl, which he later names as “Shana”, informs him that he has already died some time ago and that he is a Torch, a human with greatly diminished Power of Existence. He also discovers that he is a Mystes, a special kind of Torch that contains a treasure tool—and the said tool is the reason why his Power of Existence still hasn’t diminished despite being dead. Yuuji eventually ends up befriending Shana, and he usually accompanies the Flame Haze in her missions.
The game is planned to be a faithful representation of the original story, but will also include original mini story arcs in between the main storyline. In order to advance through the game, the player needs to improve Yuuji’s relationship with Shana and level up in each mission.
Since this is a battle RPG, the player must help Shana defeat the Denizens who have come to Misaki City in order to disrupt the world’s balance and consume the Power of Existence of its people. Antagonists from the original story will appear in the game and Shana, together with the other Flame Hazes, must defeat each Denizen in order to advance to the next level.
Pre-registration for the game is currently ongoing and pre-registrants will receive several items and rewards, such as cards like SSR Shana and Yuuji, as seen below:
