A Google Play Japan gift card adds yen balance to a Google account whose Google Play country is Japan, so you can pay for apps, games, movies and books on the Japanese Google Play Store. Your code is usually a 16-digit mix of letters and numbers, and it is sent to your email address.

Before you buy
Google Play has a much stricter system for redeeming Japan Google Play codes than other services. Please make sure that your Google Play Japan account is able to redeem codes before making a purchase.

Japan-region account required. Google Play gift cards are geo-restricted: they only work on an account whose Google Play country is Japan, in yen.
- Your Google account must be registered to a Japan address.
- Your registration information (name and other details) must be in Japanese, with no characters from other languages.
- The language of the account must be set to Japanese.
- Google may refuse the code if your address, your current location and your account settings do not all match Japan.
- A code cannot be redeemed if it would take your balance over Google Play's maximum for Japan (200,000 yen).

How to redeem
- Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device, signed in to your Japan-region account.
- Tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions (お支払いと定期購入) > Redeem code (コードを利用).
- Enter the code without spaces or dashes and tap Redeem.
- Check the receiving account and tap Confirm (確認).

First-time customers go through a one-time account verification before the code is sent; you can complete it on our account verification page. Log in to your account to see your verification status and order information. We accept PayPal or credit card.
FAQ
Does a Japanese Google Play card work outside Japan?
We email the code wherever you are, but Google says you must be present in the country where a gift card was sold to redeem it, and in the country where it was redeemed to spend the balance. These codes suit people living in or visiting Japan.
Can I add it to a US, UK or other non-Japan account?
No. Your Google Play country must be Japan. Google only lets you set a new Play country while you are there with a local payment method, and balance stays linked to the country where it was redeemed.
Does the code or the balance expire?
Google's help page for Japan says Google Play balance has no expiration date. We still suggest redeeming your code soon after it arrives.
What if my code does not work?
Recheck the points under "Before you buy" and enter the code without spaces or dashes. If it still will not redeem, contact us with your order number.
Can I redeem it on my phone or computer?
Yes. Use the Google Play Store app on an Android phone or tablet, or go to play.google.com/redeem in a web browser.
Is there anything I cannot buy with it?
Google Play balance cannot pay for Google Store hardware, top up Google Pay or buy other gift cards, and some subscriptions do not accept it.
