Our Japan Gift Card Prices Now Follow the Yen, Updated Daily
Apartment 507Share
Starting today, most of our Japan gift cards are priced from the yen exchange rate, and the prices update every day. Japanese gift cards are sold in yen, so when the yen is weak, you should pay less. Now you do.
On our first day, 28 of the 35 cards we price this way got cheaper, some by as much as 23%.

How the new prices work
- Based on the official rate. Once a day, we take the official reference rate for the yen against the US dollar and convert each card's yen value at that rate.
- One simple margin. We add the same fixed margin to every card, which covers payment fees and customer support, and round up to the next whole dollar. The lowest price for any card is $5.
- Prices follow the yen both ways. When the yen gets weaker, our prices go down. When it gets stronger, they go up.
- See when a card got cheaper. If a card costs less than it did the day before, you'll see yesterday's price crossed out next to today's.

Questions
Can the price change after I order?
No. You pay the price shown when you place your order.
Did any prices go up?
Two did. The iTunes ¥5,000 card went from $38 to $39, and the iTunes ¥10,000 card from $74 to $77, because they were priced below the new formula. Every other card got cheaper or stayed the same.
How often do prices change?
Once a day. Because we round to the whole dollar, most cards keep the same price for several days in a row.
Is delivery the same?
Yes. Codes are sent by email, with instant delivery for verified customers. First orders need a one-time verification.
